Daniel Schwarz chaired this year's MEFANET conference, which took place in Košice on November 7-8 2023.
MEFANET (MEdical FAculties NETwork) is a project aimed at cooperating medical and non-medical faculties in developing teaching using modern information and communication technologies. The MEFANET educational network connects 15 medical faculties from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The latest knowledge and experience in the field of modern technologies and innovations in medical education were presented at the conference. For example, an insider's view of strategic applications of AI beyond traditional tools was provided by Baba Sheb from St. George's University of London in his presentation on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education. In addition, an interesting presentation by Radovan Hudak on the possibilities of 3D printing in medicine showed the possibilities of additive manufacturing in personalized medical procedures and in the manufacture of implants.
A special event was the presentation of the book "DATA RULEZZ: Data-Driven Decision Making in Medical Education and Healthcare" by Martin Komenda from the Institute of Biostatistics and Analysis of the MU Faculty of Medicine.

The Institute of Biostatistics and Analyses is an investigator of the project “Extending services portfolio of an information system for the data management in clinical research”. The project is supported by the OP EIC from the European Union funds.
Main objective of the project is the development of a platform for composition of information systems focused on data management and data mining in the field of pharmaceutical industry and life sciences. Offer of digital services based on a developed and validated information system will make reliable analytical models accessible to the companies for their decision-making and precise information sources for regulatory bodies. The project steps out of a laboratory environment of clinical trials and focuses on the evidence supported by real-world data.
